Security Overview

Security is a four tiered process and is first achieved by requiring a PIN code entry on the device before access to the drive is granted using DataLock™ PIN Protection*. The drive is invisible to the computer when it’s locked.

Second, all stored data is encrypted using military grade, FIPS approved, 256-bit AES hardware encryption.

Third, the encryption key is not stored in the memory, it is stored in our security controller.

And, fourth, LOK-IT’s flash memory chip and other vital internal components are held within an epoxy potting which defeats forced access to all stored data and the encryption key.

Please note: This is the SDG003FM model.

Currently, LOK-IT is available in the SDG003FM and the SDG005M models. The SDG003FM is specifically for organizations that require FIPS 140-2 certification, since this model has achieved this NIST certification. The SDG005M uses the same hardened anodized aluminum case and incorporates the same security policies as the SDG003FM, but does not have the formal certification.
